ICC Announces Prize Money For ODI World Cup 2023

The prize money for the upcoming Cricket World Cup 2023 has been revealed by the ICC as the overall prize pool is of USD 10 million. The team who will win the World Cup will be getting a whopping amount of USD 4 million while the runners-up of the final will get USD 2 million.

“There’s prize money up for grabs for winning their Group Stage games as well, with teams getting USD 40,000 for every victory. At the end of the Group Stage, teams that fail to reach the knockouts will each get USD 100,000,” ICC said in the release.

The high-octane event is slated to take place in India from October 5 with England taking on New Zealand in the season opener at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. “The prize money also sets the precedent for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2025, with ICC announcing equal sums for both men’s and women’s events during the Annual Conference held in Durban, South Africa in July 2023,” the release further stated.

A total of 10 teams will be locking horns with each other in order to win that coveted trophy.  The summit clash of the mega event will be taking place on November 19. The upcoming World Cup 2023 is a great chance for India in order to end their title drought of winning an ICC trophy. The last time India won an ICC title was back in 2013 which was a Champions Trophy title under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

Currently, the Men in Blue are playing a three-match ODI series against Australia as this ongoing series is also serving as the final dress rehearsal for both teams. In the World Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma’s blokes will start their campaign against Australia only on October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
