The Indian Institute of Management Lucknow will close the online application window for the CAT (Common Aptitude Test) 2023 on September 13, 2023. Interested and eligible candidates looking to undertake postgraduate management programmes in the IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management) and other B-Schools across the country can submit their CAT 2023 Application Forms on the official website – iimcat.ac.in. Notably, the IIM Lucknow is the conducting institute for the CAT Exam this year, and the institute started accepting CAT 2023 Applications from August 2, 2023. 

What Is The CAT Exam?

The Common Aptitude Test or CAT is a national-level entrance exam conducted annually by the Indian Institutes of Management to shortlist suitable candidates for admissions into their postgraduate management programmes. Besides the IIMs, several other premier government and private B-Schools across the country accept CAT scores for admissions into their PG Management programmes. 

For 2023, the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow is conducting the CAT 2023 Exa, and Professor Ranjeet Singh of IIM Lucknow is the Convenor for CAT 2023. The CAT 2023 Result shall identify shortlisted candidates for admissions into a total of 63 postgraduate programmes and 29 Doctoral/ Ph.D programmes offered across all the 20 IIMs. 

When Is The CAT 2023 Exam? 

As per the official schedule, the CAT 2023 Exam will be conducted on November 26, 2023 in three sessions. The exam will be held in the online CBT (Computer Based Test) mode at designated test centres located in 155 cities across the country. While filling the CAT 2023 Applications, candidates can choose up to a maximum of six optional cities, preferred to appear for the exam in. 

The CAT 2023 Admit Cards will be released on October 25, 2023, following which registered candidates will be able to download their hall tickets from the official website. To download the CAT 2023 Admit Cards though, candidates will be required to login to the official website using their login credentials.

When Will The CAT 2023 Result Be Announced?

The CAT 2023 Result is slated to be released by the second week of January 2024. Once the CAT 2023 results are announced candidates will be able to check their results and download their CAT 2023 scorecards from the official website through candidate login. The CAT 2023 Results are also likely to be intimated to candidates who take the exam through SMS. Moreover, the CAT 2023 Scorecard shall be valid till December 31, 2024. 

Candidates seeking postgraduate management admissions for the session starting in 2024 must ensure their admissions before December 31, 2024. Those candidates who seek to enroll into MBA/ PGDM admissions in the 2025 session will have to appear for the CAT 2024 Exam again. 

Who Can Apply For CAT 2023 Exam?

Candidates who have completed their bachelors degree in any stream from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC, ST, PwD candidates) can apply for the CAT 2023 Exam. Those who are in the final year of their undergraduate programmes can also apply. CAT 2023: Selection Process

The Indian Institutes of Management follow a diverse shortlisting procedure of candidates through the CAT Exam. After clearing the CAT 2023 Exam with desired percentile cut-off laid out/ identified by several IIMs, candidates will be called for an Interview/ Group Discussion round. 

Besides performance in the CAT 2023 Exam and the Interview/ Group Discussion round, IIMs may also consider other factors like previous academic records, work experience, and others while shortlisting candidates for admission. The admission process/ shortlisting criteria may also vary from one IIM to another. 

What Is The CAT 2023 Application Fee? 

The CAT 2023 Application Fee is Rs 1,200 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. However, unreserved category candidates will be required to pay a CAT 2023 Application fee of Rs 2,400. Candidates can pay the application fee online through NET Banking, Debit Cards or UPI.

What Is The Syllabus And Pattern Of The CAT 2023 Exam? 

The CAT 2023 Exam paper shall consist of 120 questions spread across three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Ability. Each of the sections will consist of 40 MCQs (Multiple-Choice Questions). Candidates will have a maximum time of two hours to answer all questions in the exam. 

Moreover, candidates will be allowed a maximum of 40 minutes to answer all questions in each section. Skipping from one section to another while answering shall not be allowed. To get well versed with the CAT 2203 Exam patterns and interface candidates are advised to check the exam tutorials online before the exam.
