Asian Games 2023 Live Updates: The Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou will officially kickstart from September 23. However, competitions for some events have already started before that. Competitions for many events including football and volleyball started from September 19 itself. This time, India has sent a total of 655 players to the Asian Games, which is the largest contingent so far. Indian men’s football team led by Sunil Chhetri had to face a crushing 1-5 defeat against hosts China on Tuesday. Today, on 21st September (Thursday), India has to participate in five events. These include sports competitions like cricket, football, rowing and sailing.

The Indian women’s cricket team will play its first match in the Asian Games on Thursday (September 21). Cricket has been included to the Asian Games after long gap of nine years. The sport was removed during the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta after cricket competitions were held in Guangzhou 2010 and Incheon 2014.
