The Last Time I Will Talk About This

by Steve Hoven

I don't often recommend information that isn't my own. I am always afraid my readers will get burned by the person and it just isn't worth their time.  So I try and avoid it for both our sakes.

But I MUST take this opportunity to tell you about Simple Cash Blog

I ran across it last fall.   I didn't purchase it right away but as I thought about it more and the price of it.  I figured it was time to take the plunge.  And boy am I glad I did.

The articles they have in the blog are AWESOME. I especially like the August 1st .

Topics like...
  • "How To Make $5,000 A Month With Your Own Simple Membership Site (No Scripts Or Anything Complicated Like That Are Needed!)"

  • The Simple Formula To Building An Opt-In List Of 10,000+ In Less Than 3 Months

If you are like me you have seen that type of hype before. A marketer trying to sell it for $100 etc.. And its just fluff.    I got to tell you these people lay it out on the line for you.  They show you how to do it in their blog and it really isn't that hard!
I got some great ideas from the blog myself and plan on putting them into play over the coming weeks.

If you have ANY interest at all making money online. NO MATTER IN WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS.  I URGE YOU to check out the site.

Home Business Tax Deductions

by Daniel Baker

One of the greatest things about being self employed and working out of your home is the additional tax deductions available.  Unfortunately, many people who have small internet based and home based businesses don’t take advantage of these.  Here are some great examples of things you may be able to deduct as long as you keep receipts in case of an audit.

1)  Start up Costs

Did you incur any expenses starting your business?  Were their things you had to buy in order to start your business?  Don’t forget things like bookkeeping software, office supplies, desk, website design fees, and so on.  If you are in an MLM or Network Marketing Company, was there a start up pack, inventory, or website fee?

2)  “Doing Business” Expenses

Don’t forget any recurring expenses you may have.  Your web hosting costs, advertising expenses, membership fees, and so on.  Multi level marketers can deduct any monthly purchases if they are required.

3)  Travel and Entertainment Expenses

Don’t forget the mileage on your auto when doing business or going for training.  Be sure to keep an accurate log of mileage used for business in case of an IRS audit.  Parking and toll costs for business purposes are deductible as well.  Meal expenses when entertaining any prospective or current clients can be deductible.

4)  Training Expenses

Did you buy any tapes, audio CDs, training DVDs, seminars, or ebooks? And of course any travel expenses related to your training as I mentioned previously.

5)  Your Home Office

Having a designated home office may allow you to deduct a portion of your rent, electric bill, insurance, and any other utilities.

Many people go into Internet Marketing, MLMs, or Network Marketing for the opportunity to make extra money.  Most people don’t even think about the significant tax savings.  Taking into consideration the tax advantages of running your own home based business; you may realize that even if you are only moderately successful income wise, you will be in a lot better shape when it comes to the bottom line!

This article is provided for informational purposes only; this is not to be construed as tax advice.  Always check with your tax advisor whenever making a decision on anything to do with your tax situation.

Making Money Online Series
Part 3

by Daniel Baker.

Making Money Online Series
Part 3

You have now decided what you are going to market and you have decided what to do with your potential clients.  Now you need to get potential clients to your site; otherwise known as traffic.

There are many techniques for getting traffic to your site.  Some are free and some aren’t, some will work better for one type of offer and some for others.  While I will discuss the pros and cons of various techniques, you may need to try several different techniques to find the ones that give you the best results.

Automated Hits or Visits

Let me start by giving you a definition of what a hit is.  The original definition of a hit is a web server action recorded by a log file on the server.  When someone visits a website files are activated on the web server and sent to their computer. Each time a file is called for it is recorded as a hit.  One page view could easily record 10 hits.  This can give the illusion of many people hitting a site when in fact only one visit occurred. The more common definition of a hit is someone viewing a site on their computer.  Viewing by automated processes like GoogleBot and other robots also record hits.

A visit refers to a human visitor viewing a site.  This may result in many hits while they are there.  However, there are companies who offer automated visits to your site.  The automated part of the term is important.  Automated visits would indicate non-human visits to your site.

Obviously, an automated hit or visit to your site isn’t going to result in a sale.  And many of these cause you problems as they eat into your band width which may result in your site not being available for a period of time.

There are many companies offering visits, views, or hits to your site.  For the purposes of internet marketing I would stay away from any kind of automated visits or hits to your website. Most companies that offer automated hits will give you grandeurs reasons for using their service.  However, I have yet to meet anyone who has says that automated hits helped their site.  And if you are looking for higher listings on search engines, these kind of services may hurt you more than help you.

I will continue this series in the next issue
